Mary Ellen Campbell Scott

Mary Ellen Scott, 91, of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma died on August 22, 2011. She was born in Little Rock, Arkansas on August 4, 1920, to Loula and James Dunn Campbell. She attended Little Rock High School and graduated from Little Rock Junior College. In 1942, Mary Ellen began her career working as a government employee in the War Department, Tinker Field, the RFC and the Department of Labor. In 1954, she moved to Houston, Texas and began working in the interior design business. She moved back to OKC in 1993 and worked for Kamber’s for more than a decade. She was an active member of All Souls’ Episcopal Church. Ms. Scott is survived by her nieces Gayle Wright of Rocky Mount, NC; Jan Vaught of Carrollton, TX; Camille Rohn of Edmond and Gay Kirby and her husband, Ed, of OKC. She is also survived by her nephews, Jim Crosby and his wife, Pam of Yukon and Bing Crosby and his wife, Laura of Piedmont, as well as her stepson, Mike Scott and his wife, Deb, of San Antonio, TX. She is further survived by many great-nephews and nieces, who loved her dearly. She is predeceased by her sisters, Elizabeth Campbell Elder and her husband, Don and Helen Crosby Allen, all of OKC; her brother, James Durand, of Little Rock, Arkansas and her nephews, Larry Crosby of OKC and Don Elder, Jr. of Tulsa. She will be remembered by her many beloved friends and family for her sense of humor, incredible curiosity, and her ability to never meet a stranger. She lived life to the fullest and her devotion to her family are the hallmarks of her true character and long life. Her graveside service will be held at 10 a.m. on Thursday, August 25 at Rose Hill, A private viewing for family and friends will be held on Wednesday, August 24 at Hahn-Cook/Street & Draper Funeral Home. Her family requests that in lieu of flowers, donations be given to All Souls’ Episcopal Church, 6400 North Pennsylvania Avenue, Oklahoma City, OK, 73116.
