Maxine Brawley of Edmond, Oklahoma passed away on Friday July 22, 2022. Maxine was born in Hess, Oklahoma on September 13, 1932, and graduated from Altus High. She was married to Bill Brawley until his death in 2010. They lived a happy, fulfilling life together that took them from Altus to Tulsa, Oklahoma City, Wichita, Houston, Los Angeles, Ventura and Denver, before finally returning to Oklahoma where they settled in Edmond to be near family.
Maxine was what we used to call a “Homemaker,” and she was good at it. She was a, steadfast and supportive wife, mother, sister, daughter and friend. Shouldn’t that be enough to demonstrate a purposeful life well-lived? Maxine was a hard-working and supportive member of the Edmond Christian Church for many years.
She was a devoted mother to Phyllis Brawley Stewart, married to Vincent Stewart and Wade Brawley, married to Rebecca Brawley, and a compassionate sister to Dorthy Burgess, and a loving and supportive grandmother to Patrick, Rachel and Parker, and Great Grandmother to Rashid, Usamah, Khattab, Ahlam, Salahideen, Sumaya and Isabella. Maxine enjoyed entertaining friends and family and opened her house for gatherings on every Holiday. She was particularly fond of her July 4th parties. She loved OU football and attended many games with her husband Bill. She had the uncanny ability to find the best in everyone she met and she offered a smile and warm welcome to everyone who crossed her path.
A memorial service will be held at 10:00 am, Saturday, July 30, 2022 at Hahn-Cook/Street & Draper Chapel 6600 Broadway Extension, Oklahoma City, OK 73116.
