

Merrisue Lucardeaux, an actress, theatre volunteer, audiologist and proud mother, died on January 31, 2015 after a short illness. Merrisue was a born Jan. 12, 1957 in Oklahoma City, the daughter of Dorothy and T.J. Lucado. She graduated from Oklahoma State University with honors and earned a graduate degree in audiology from Wichita State University.
Merrisue was a long time board member of the Oklahoma Community Theatre Association (OCTA), serving from 1995 to 2008. She received the Bill Crawford Memorial Award for recognition of services and devotion to OCTA and its theatres in 2006. Merrisue was awarded a state All-Star Cast award in 1995 for her role in “Trip to Bountiful” with Town & Gown Theatre. She acted in many plays with Town & Gown Theatre, as well as Carpenter Square Theatre in Oklahoma City.
Merrisue’s work as an audiologist included many years of work with veterans at QTC, the occupational health and disability services provider. She was a big fan and season ticket holder of the Oklahoma City Thunder and loved classic movies, reading, dining at her favorite restaurants, jazz clubs, vintage furniture and travel. She always had a warm smile and kind words to say about the people in her life.
Merrisue is preceded in death by her father, Thornton Jenkins Lucado, Jr., and her mother, Dorothy Helen Dehart Lucado. Merrisue is survived by her beloved daughter, Emma Dorothy Steimel, an Assistant Attorney General in Illinois; sister, Luann Lucado Harper, brother-in-law Dennis Ray Harper, and many many good friends and co-workers.
