Milford’s early years were shaped by the close-knit values of small-town Oklahoma and the deep love of his parents—his father, his best friend, and his mother, whom he adored. He began his college journey at the University of Oklahoma, where he was a proud member of the Lambda Chi Alpha fraternity, and later earned his bachelor’s degree from Oklahoma City University.
Milford found joy in life’s simple pleasures, including Saturday morning trips to the bank, telling stories and reminiscing about his parking lot driving adventures, or just a warm bowl of oatmeal. Milford was a lifelong music lover. A few of his tastes included 1930’s jazz, 1940’s big band music, Elvis Presley, and classical music from KKNG radio. He even played the saxophone! His favorite colors are red, black and white; Bold, classic, and timeless, just like Milford. Painting was one of Milford’s retirement passions, nurtured by natural artistic talent. His relationship with Hospice Chaplain Jeremy Smith helped Milford change into a man of faith. He developed a love of daily bible reading. When asked how he wished to be remembered, he simply said, “I’m just a guy.” But to those who knew and loved him, he was far more—a devoted husband, loving father and grandfather, a man of deep humility, and strength.
Milford answered the call to serve his country with honor, becoming an officer in the United States Air Force and attaining the rank of Lieutenant.
On December 19, 1954, Milford married the love of his life, Naomi Louise Cavett. Their marriage was a lifelong testament to love, loyalty, and faith. Together they raised two children, Connie and Wade.
Both Milford and Naomi were last surviving members of their immediate families. On her side, John Allred continues his travels and adventures. Milford and Naomi are survived by daughter Connie, and son Wade, and their two families. Both Connie and Wade have had two spouses, blessing Milford and Naomi with six grandchildren, thirteen great grands, and four great-great granddaughters. Also surviving is Jones granddaughter, Tabitha Powers.
Of these generations, Milford and Naomi were preceded in death by son-in-law Kenneth Avery Barnes and his child, grandson Seth Jones, granddaughter Sarah Jones, and very recently their sister Esther Davis.
Constraint of time and space limits listing all of Milford and Naomi’s nieces’ and nephews’ growing generations. We do not want to make any painful errors, so ask IF you so desire, your help by adding your Family’s updated information. Seth Jones had no children. Sarah Jones has two surviving children, and Esther Davis has six surviving children. Each of you is precious and beloved and honored and respected beyond expression!
In lieu of flowers, contributions to the Naomi and Milford Jones memorial may be made to Hough Ear Institute (Research) 3400 NW 56th Street, Oklahoma City, Oklahoma 73112, a cause close to the family’s heart.
