Nyree Dawn was born on February 9, 1975, in Oklahoma City, OK. Nyree was the youngest child of three children to Debrah Ann Flowers Young. Growing up Nyree and her older sibling grew up spending lots of time with her maternal grandmother Magdalene Harris Brown.
Nyree was special to so many of her family and friends. She had a larger-than-life heart! She ALWAYS opened her home for those who fell on challenging times and needed a place to stay. Nyree was a listening ear to many who came to her for advice; but be ready to receive her advice, because she never sugarcoated her words. Nyree had a nickname for everyone she knew and met. She loved her grandchildren more than anything in this world. She was their GRANNY! She called them “Granny little loves”. She did everything for all eight of them.
Nyree loved to crochet, she was in the process prior to her unexpected death of crocheting a blanket for “Fry” (her youngest grandson, Raeshawn’s baby boy). She loved dogs; watching television; singing and listening to music; collecting purses and perfumes; and often playing bingo with friends and family.
She attended elementary, middle, and high school in the OKCPS District. She obtained her GED after leaving traditional school. Throughout the years, she completed several courses and training to learn multiple skills to enhance her employment career in home health.
Nyree worked most of her employment career in home health as a CNA and health care positions. She was a hard worker and loved her clients dearly.
Nyree gave birth to four (4) children: Brittany, Jamisha, Aaron, and Raeshawn whom she loved dearly.
She accepted Christ in her life as her personal Lord and Savior at an early age. Her family under the guidance of her late grandmother “Bunch” and others, she knew there was Power in The Name of Jesus. She believed in the power of prayer. After the unexpected medical occurrence, the family prayed for the healing of her body. Yes, God answered our prayers according to His perfect will. She is healed! Hallelujah to The Most High God!
Nyree was preceded in death by her mother Debrah Flowers Young; grandfather, Theodore W. Flowers, Sr.; grandmother Magdalene (Flowers) Brown “Bunch”; Uncle Theodore Flowers, Jr.; Aunt Margaret Flowers. I know that they all were waiting at the gate on January 25th to welcome her to her new home.
Nyree leaves to cherish her loving memories: Her daughters, Brittany and grands Blake, Breana, Bakari, Balissa; Jamisha and grands Dawnyale, D’Various, and Da’Nyree; sons, Aaron; Raeshawn and grand Rashawn X; sister, Toya Lewis; brothers, Joseph Young, Robert Young, Kevin Coleman, a host of uncles and aunts; nieces, Nikita Ellison and Shardae’ Moore; nephew, Cedarious Young; and many many cousins; and the many friends that were like family to her.
She raised her children full-time in a loving home, the best way she could.
