March 11, 1920-April 15,2011
Pauline Tayar Rahill departed this life on a sunny afternoon, with her family
gathered around her. She was born, the fifth of six children to Lebanese
immigrants, Hafeetha Diab Tayar and Nicholas John Tayar, and grew up in
Gladewater, Texas.
She and her family moved to Oklahoma City just after her high school
graduation and she cultivated a wonderful life with her family and friends.
She married William Rahill on January 28, 1944. Theirs was a true love
story, complete with the excitement of post World War ll America and all of
its promise. Together, they reared three children. The consummate
homemaker, Pauline was committed to a life of faith, love, humor, and
devotion.
Pauline was a member of Bonne Heure Club for over 60 years and she
served in every office. She made life-long friendships with the grand
ladies of this club, as they sought to raise money for philanthropic causes
and to share in the fellowship of their loving relationships and shared
heritage.
An active member of St. Elijah's Antiochian Orthodox Christian Church, she
worked tirelessly on several projects to help promote the faith and serve
the community in the Junior Guild and Ladies Aid organizations.
Pauline never met a stranger and her open heart never turned anyone
away. She was an authentic lady and carried herself with grace and
dignity.
She was predeceased in death by her parents, her husband, her beloved
grandson, Zayd Zubaidi, sisters, Juliene DeBakey, Dorothy Shadid,
Laurece Shadid and her brothers, John Tayar and Kenneth Tayar. ln
addition she survived the deaths of her sister-in law, Victoria Rahill Naifeh,
brothers-in-law, Phillip Rahill and A.C. Rahill.
Letting her go, but missing her always, are daughters and sons-in-law,
Susan and Buster Simon, Ramona and Sattar Zubaidi, son and daughter-in-law, Steven and Cheryl Rahill, grandchildren, Shannon and Dan Wilguess,
Sarah Simon, Jannah Zubaidi, Ashley Rahill, Lauren Rahill, and
Alexandrea Rahill, as well as her beloved great-grand children, Sydney,
Austin, and Daniel. She is also survived by her sister-in-law, Charlene
Simon Rahill, with whom she shared a special bond, and by many nieces,
