Peggy “Joan” Jones said her final goodbyes to her loved ones on January 31, 2026. She entered this world on March 8, 1940, born to Floyd and Bonnie Malson in Hammon, Oklahoma. Joan shared her warmth and presence across Oklahoma – from Hammon to El Reno to Oklahoma City – and left her mark beyond its borders as well, touching lives in Kansas, Colorado, and Wisconsin.
Joan retired from El Reno Public Schools after 31 years of dedicated service. She shared her life with Richard Baker, Willis Colwill, and Donald D. Jones, building a large and loving blended family over the years.
Joan found joy in life’s simple pleasures: gardening, painting, getting lost in a good book, listening to Elvis, square dancing, and spending time with her grandchildren.
Joan is preceded in death by her parents, Floyd and Bonnie Malson, siblings Margaret Stout, Joyce Ivey, and husband Don Jones.
Joan is survived by her children, Judy Diane Baker of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; Gary Wayne Baker and wife Connie of Yukon, Oklahoma; siblings Helen Whitford of Edmond, Oklahoma, Roy Malson and wife Sharon of Elk City, Oklahoma, and Carolyn Harris and husband Lonnie of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; grandchildren Starkey Baker (Daniel) of Oakland, California, Caleb Baker of Yukon, Oklahoma, Logan Redford and husband Colby of Yukon, Oklahoma; great-grandson Riley Redford, numerous nieces and nephews, and a loving dog, Babe.
Her celebration of life will be held on Saturday, February 14, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. in Hammon, Oklahoma at Community Fellowship Church (109 Broadway, Hammon, Oklahoma 73650). In lieu of a viewing, there will be a visitation prior to the service for family and friends held at 10:00 a.m. at Community Fellowship Church.
