Phyllis Higgins Tether

She will be dearly missed by her children, William Tether and Jan Butler, her grandchildren Richard Newberry, Samantha Harbert, Serena Stuart, Dr. Hannah Johnson, Dr. Jordan Ward, Kelsey Lemons, great-grandson Gage Stuart, great-granddaughter Madisyn Newberry, her caretakers Tish Duncan, Walter Duncan, and Tai Duncan.

She was preceded in death by her father, Ross Higgins, her mother, Sue Higgins, and her husband Ted Tether.

Phyllis attended high school at Big Four in Kingfisher Oklahoma. She then entered Oklahoma A & M University where she completed her Bachelor’s Degree. She then completed her Master’s Degree at Oklahoma State University in 1960. Phyllis then went on to teach Kindergarten at Star Elementary in Spencer, Oklahoma, where she retired.

Phyllis attended church at Spencer United Methodist, and later at Wickline United Methodist. She enjoyed teaching Sunday school, as well as singing in the choir and performing solos.

Visitation will be held from 3:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, December 15, 2021 at Bill Eisenhour Northeast. Graveside services will be on Thursday, December 16, 2021 at 10:00 a.m. at Arlington Memory Gardens, 3400 North Midwest Blvd, Oklahoma City, OK 73141.
