Reuben Jay Stokely III, 74, passed away peacefully on Monday, January 17, 2022 in Oklahoma City, OK. Reuben was born in Houston, TX, on June 30, 1947, to Reuben Jay Stokely II and Rose Marie (Aston) Wright.
On August 31, 1967, Reuben enlisted in the United States Army where he courageously served his country for 3 years. He was awarded the National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, Sharpshooter (Rifle M-14), and Marksman (Rifle M-16). Reuben’s time in the military left him 100% disabled, but he could not be more proud to have spent time fighting for his fellow Americans.
After his honorable discharge, you could find Reuben at home enjoying moody blues music and other popular genres during the Vietnam War era, watching movies, running errands and going out to eat.
Reuben leaves behind his children, Heather Collins of Oklahoma City, OK, Rose Herr of Round Rock, TX, Vickie King of Pauls Valley, OK, Reuben Stokely of Oklahoma City, OK, and Shannon Stokely of Perdido, AL, to honor his memory.
