Reubin Eugene Lacaze, Sr., 82, of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, passed away on September 15, 2025, surrounded by his family. He was born in January of 1943, in Natchitoches, LA to Rufus “Buddy” Lacaze and Ida Mae Ficklin.
Reubin accepted Christ at an early age as a member of Williams Chapel UMC in Natchitoches, LA. Reubin graduated from Central High School in Natchitoches, LA in 1961 and attended Grambling State University for a short time. Reubin enlisted in the United States Air Force in 1965.
In 1967, Reubin married the love of his life, Orelia Helaire. Reubin and Orelia’s first son, Reubin “Ben” E. Lacaze, Jr. was born in 1968 in Natchitoches, LA. Their second son, Randall E. Lacaze was born in 1975 at Dyess A.F.B. in Abilene, TX. Reubin proudly served in the United States Air Force for 26 years. His time in the military took him and the family to Myrtle Beach, SC, Clark A.B. in the Philippines, Dyess A.F.B. in Abilene, TX, Upper Heyford A.B. in England, Cannon A.F.B. in Clovis, NM, and finally Hickam A.F.B. in Honolulu, Hawaii. Reubin retired from the military in 1992 and moved to Oklahoma City.
Reubin went to work for the U.S. Postal Service in 1994 and retired again in 2009. After retirement, Reubin enjoyed spending time with family and traveling with his wife. Reubin was also an avid sports fan and enjoyed watching his OKC Thunder. Reubin was an active member of the Tinker A.F.B. base chapel and did volunteer work to assist active-duty Air Force members with information about retirement benefits and available services.
Reubin was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Lee Grant Lacaze.
He is survived by his loving wife of 58 years, Orelia; their children Ben Lacaze (wife Kim) of Edmond, OK and Randall Lacaze (wife Melissa) of Cypress, TX; his three grandchildren, Rion Lacaze, Kylan Lacaze, and Rowan Lacaze, sisters, Alice Freeman of Oakland, CA, and Katherine Owens (husband Emiel) of Cypress, TX, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and close friends.
