

Richard Ellis Hackaday, 81, of Harrah, Oklahoma passed away January 22, 2016. He was born April 30, 1934 to Ellis B. and Callie M. (Ciyou) Hackaday in Keokuk, Iowa. As a young man, Richard enlisted in the US Air Force and proudly served his country during the Korean War. On January 1, 1995 he married his beloved wife, Betty, and the two spent the next 21 years together. Richard enjoyed reading his Bible and playing his violin, he enjoyed playing classical and religious music. Music was a very large part of his life and he spent many years traveling to nursing homes and churches and ministering with his music. Richard and Betty enjoyed traveling and would take off for adventures, camping in their van along the way. They visited Houston, TX, Los Angeles, CA, Washington, Oregon, Niagara Falls, and even Disney World in Florida. Richard is survived by his wife, Betty, of the home; son Rick Hackaday and wife Brenda of Belton, MO; daughter, Lisa Gasca and husband Miko, of Lee’s Summit, MO; grandchildren, Brendan Hackaday, Luke Hackaday, Dillon Gasca and Danielle Gasca; sister, Theresa Gorham of Ft. Madison, Iowa; and some nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and 2 brothers. Funeral services will be held 2:00 pm, Saturday, February 6, 2016 at Summit Ridge Seventh-Day Adventist Church in Harrah, Oklahoma. Private burial will follow at Summit Ridge Cemetery.
