Richard Charles Timmons, 78, of OKC passed peacefully from this life on December 17, 2020. Services have been entrusted to the care of Advantage Funeral Service and a celebration of his life will be held at 1pm Saturday, December 19, 2020 at Okchamali Blue Baptist Church in Connerville, OK with burial to follow at Pontotoc Cemetery. Public Visitation will take place at the funeral home on Friday, December 18, 2020 from 2-8pm.
Richard was born on February 21, 1942 in Connerville, OK to Elbert and Gratha (Edwards) Timmons. He attended school in Pontotoc and Sapulpa. Following graduation from Pontotoc High School, Richard moved back to Sapulpa where he worked at the Liberty glass plant. While there, Richard met the love of his life, Jean Bruton. In 1963, Richard and Jean were married. They soon moved to OKC where they raised two beautiful children together: Danny and Lori.
Richard began a long career in the concrete construction business. He worked for over three decades for Thomas Concrete but later accepted a plant manager position with the Core Slab Company before retiring in 1990. During his time in the concrete business Richard had a part in transforming the OKC skyline by assisting in the building of the state fair monorail system, as well as numerous buildings and parking garages in downtown OKC.
Richard was a hardworking man who always took care of his family. He enjoyed traveling, barbequing, and taking fishing trips with his brothers. His faith was important to him and he was a member of the South Moore Baptist Church. Richard brought so much joy to the lives of those around him and he will truly be missed by all who knew him.
Richard Timmons was preceded in death by his parents: Elbert and Gratha Timmons; five siblings: Delphia Goza, Betty Hargis, Willie Timmons, Gerald Timmons, and Rhonda Russell. He is survived by his wife and best friend of 57 years Jean Timmons; two children: Danny Timmons and Lori Clark and husband Freddie; six siblings: Andrew Timmons, Genevia Byrd, Leonard Timmons, Paul Timmons, Dennia Burke, and Louise McClain; six grandchildren: Faith Timmons, Virginia Clark, Freddie Clark III, Lonzo Clark, Nicholas Timmons, and Christopher Timmons. Three Great grandchildren: Austin, Emery, and Reagan; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and other beloved family members.
