Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. She married Billey Kent McGruder on December 23,1954 and spent
the next twenty four years serving as a military wife and mother of six children. After an
extended illness she was welcomed into Jesus’ loving arms June 28, 2022.
Robbie Jo was preceded in death by her mother; Maggie Eunice Seay Calcote, father; Robert F.
Calcote, brother; Clifton Calcote, and great granddaughter; Dominique Ledford.
She is survived by her husband; Billey McGruder of the home, children; Debbie Stevens of Shawnee,
Denise Linzman of Waurika, Billey McGruder II of Oklahoma City, Brenda Warrick of Noble,
Robert McGruder of MidWest City, and Robbie Botsford of MidWest City, eleven grandchildren,
nineteen great grandchildren, and one on the way, and siblings; Joyce Drew Parsons of Houston, Jerry Calcote of Rogers, AR, and Jane Robinson of Chandler.
Robbie washed millions of dishes, diapers, sheets, and clothes. She scrubbed floors, polished
shoes, ironed millions of shirts, pants, fatigues, and dresses. She cooked thousands of meals,
baked hundreds of cakes, traveled tens of thousands of miles, wiped noses, bathed babies,
mopped fevered brows. She planted gardens and flowers, made jellies, crocheted everything
from blankets to booties, sewed garments, and created beautiful homes on shoestring budgets.
Robbie spent many an hour in fervent prayer, took children to church, taught Vacation Bible
School and Sunday School. She had an unwavering faith in God and always studied her Bible.
She taught the grandchildren about the Lord and led her family by example. She proudly
launched children and grandchildren into the world and stood with each through trials and
rejoiced with all in every victory.
Robbie walked side by side with her husband and traveled the globe together as they built their
life. She never fell out of love with her man and they enjoyed their life together until the day of
her death. She was a valiant, intelligent woman, courageous, unafraid of life, clear eyed in the
face of seemingly insurmountable odds. She was wise, witty, and the most wonderful mom.
She was a stunning, dignified beauty. She was our mother.
