April 29, 1945, Ernest Delbert Parish and Lela May (Lowe) brought a baby boy, Roger Parish, into the world. Roger was the second eldest of a brood of children that consisted of six siblings, seven counting the sibling that did not survive infancy. These siblings are Vivian, the eldest, followed by (after Roger) Charles, Jerry, Shiela, Sharon, and the youngest, Steve. Roger was preceded in to the hereafter by both parents and by sister Vivian, and brothers, Charles and Jerry. Through Roger's formative years, he did what most youngsters of his era did. He went to school, played sports (basketball and football) and worked to help the family make ends meet. In 1963 Roger met and subsequently married Valerie Belt, they were married Christmas day the same year and their union endured for sixty one years, only ended by Roger's passing. In due time, Roger and Valerie recieved children of their own. These were Roger II, Alicia, and much later, Angela and Weston were brought home and raised with love. Weston also also preceded Roger in death at a tragically young age. After this, the family tree grows fruitful and complex. Make no mistake though, his grandchildren and great-grandchildren were the greatest source of love and pride during Roger's life. Throughout the greatest portion of Roger's adult years,he was a successful businessman. These ventures included custom trim and he was the driving force behind bumper to bumper body shop. Although Roger was not a particularly vain man, he was rightly proud of his skill as a bowler. He was avid, enthusiastic and dedicated in his pursuit of excellence at the sport of bowling. He gained admittance to the Oklahoma City bowler's hall of fame many years ago. On the road to the hall of fame, he acquired too many accolades to list here. Suffice it to to say, Roger's memorial will be well attended by members of this extended family. Roger was, and still is, loved by a rather large community of family and wonderful friends. In closing, Roger, in many ways lived a singular life and was a stellar individual. His passing leaves a significant void and he will be terribly missed. A memorial service for Roger will be held Saturday, May 17, 2025 from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at Primrose Funeral Service, 1109 North Porter Ave, Norman, OK 73071.
