

Ruth Marie Bettinger, 98, quietly passed into God's arms in her sleep on a beautiful Sunday evening. She was born June 22, 1918, in Santa Rosa, New Mexico, the 3rd of 11 children born to Joe Lee, Sr. and Clara Belle (Shaw) Bettinger. Ruth was raised and graduated high school in the small Southeastern town of Bromide, Ok. She also attended Murray State College in Tishomingo, Ok. prior to marrying Burnett Allen (Peck) Wells and later, Bob Bond. To these unions were born 6 children; Clara Joyce (C.J.), Norman Tracy, Davie Ann, Paula Sue, Phillip Allen and Robert Wesley.
Ruth was predeceased by her parents, siblings Joe Lee Jr, David, Robert, Lorene, Helen and Andy and Dan. She was also pre deceased by son Tracy and daughter Paula Sue. Ruth is survived by children C.J. McAlister, Davi Ann (Sonny) Garcia, Phil (Debbie) Wells and Robert (Susan) Bond. Her surviving siblings are sisters Thelma Keele and Betty Wilson along with brother J.C. (Joan) Bettinger. Many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews will miss this matriarch of their family.
The highlight of her life the past 30 plus years was attending the Bettinger Family Reunion on Father's Day weekend in Bromide, OK., which sometimes numbered over 100, all with their tents, trailers and RVs in tow. At 98, she attended her last reunion this past June, 2016. She is happily attending her everlasting reunion with her parents, siblings, children and friends who passed before her.
The family wishes to thank all the staff at Saint Ann Nursing Home, Donna Purdy with Valir Hospice and Amy Hamby with Heavenly Hospice. In lieu of flowers, donations in her name may be made to the charity of your choice. Visitation and viewing will be held at Guardian West, 5820 NW 41 street, Oklahoma City on Friday, Aug 19, from 4 to 8 pm. The funeral service will also be at Guardian West, officiated by Pastor Ron Christie of Zion Lutheran Church, on Saturday, Aug 20, at 2 pm.
