Sarah Frances Cutright,72, entered the gates of heaven on May 24, 2016 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma from complications of a stroke. Sarah Frances Cutright was born August 21, 1943 to Reverend E.J and Orphie Chedester in Lawton, Oklahoma. She was the youngest of 5 children. Her father was a United Methodist Minister and moved annually. There was only one town that she lived in more than a year and that was Loveland, Oklahoma. She would always called Loveland home because of all the wonderful people she met and kept in touch with over the years.
The story of her birth and the many close calls throughout her entire life only proves that miracles happen every day and god does exist. Her faith guided and provided her strength throughout her life. She had a wonderful gift of caring for people. She was a fierce advocate of children and all people in need.
Sarah went to several schools throughout Oklahoma and graduated from High School in Aline, Oklahoma in 1961. After High School she attended Northwestern University in Alva, Oklahoma. She worked her way through college in various numbers of jobs from working at the TG&Y, The Bowling Alley and waitressing at various restaurants. Mom met Dad working as a waitress in Gordon’s café in Alva, Oklahoma while mom was attending college. All Dad would say is when he came in from work, Gordon’s café had the best Chicken Fry and American Fries in town. Mom graduated from Northwestern University with a Bachelors Degree in Social Work and minors in History and Home Economics in May of 1965. Sarah Chedester married Ray Cutright September 4, 1965 in Hydro, Oklahoma. Mom and Dad moved to Oklahoma City after they were married.
Mom and Dad were active in the Square Dance Association even elected District and State Officers. In 1970 they move to Jones, Oklahoma to raise their two children Eileen and Clifford. Mom and Dad were active in everything we did from school, church, sports and 4-H. Mom sold Tupperware for many years, never meeting a stranger where ever she went. In, later year’s mom was active in various political and civic organizations including the National Federation of Republican Women. Mom came to live in a nursing home after a massive stroke in January of 2010.
Sarah liked sharing her accomplishments on Facebook as her therapy. We often read your posts, comments and pictures. It made her feel like she was still a part of everyone's life. Sarah’s garden was her pride joy. Sarah couldn’t wait to get out there every spring. She was happiest with potting soil all over her and watering plants no matter how hot the temperature was outside. She would grow flowers and veggies that she would share with everyone. It made her very happy.
Our family would like to express our heartfelt gratitude to all the many care givers, nurses and friends that she had contact with throughout these six years. They all have a special place in our heart. I know if momma could talk she would like to encourage them all to continue to give of themselves to help people that need them the most. To become advocates, caregivers, nurses, nurse practitioners or help one another with a hug and let them know it will be okay. She would want no one to shy away from touching someone's life in a meaningful way. That is how she lived her life and that is what Sarah would want for everyone she has met. Sarah loved people and loved people caring for one another.
Sarah is survived by her husband Ray. Her daughter Eileen and son Clifford all of Jones, Oklahoma. Along with nieces, nephews and many friends. She is preceded in death by her son Andrew Cutright, parents, brothers Ernest Jr, James, Robert and sister Karlene Bankston.
Arrangements under the direction of Bill Eisenhour Funeral Home, Oklahoma City, OK.
