

Carolyn Sue Jones, 73 of OKC passed peacefully from this life on December 7, 2018. Services have been entrusted to the care of Advantage Funeral Service and a service celebrating Sue’s life will be held on Wednesday, December 12th at 11am at Advantage Funeral Service at 7720 S. Penn in SW OKC. Public visitation will be held on Tuesday, December 11th from 1pm-8pm with the family greeting friends at the funeral home from 6pm-8pm Tuesday evening.
Carolyn Sue Flanary was born on July 26, 1945 in Oklahoma City to jt and Kathleen Flanary. She was raised and attended schools in OKC graduating from U.S. Grant High School in 1963. She married Louie Bothe in 1964 and moved out to Mustang, where was a homemaker and she had her first child, Shurina. Sue moved back to Oklahoma City in the mid-1960s where she worked as a florist and as a waitress at the airport and at Jack’s Steakhouse on 59th and Penn. In 1967, Sue was working as a server at the Charter Club in packing town when she met and married Bobby Poindexter. Soon after, she gave birth to her second child, Shaun.
In the late 1960s, Sue married Wayne Harris, who adopted both of Sue’s children. They moved to Allen, Texas and then later to Corpus Christi, Texas where they lived in a tent camp for 6 months due to a hurricane. She later moved to Sherman Oaks, California where she lived for 4 years while working for Lloyds of London Insurance. Sue then moved back to Oklahoma City in 1977 where she married Bill Humphreys in the early 1980s. She went to work in the automotive sales industry where she served as a title clerk and accounts receivable administrator for Southwest Ford and Town and Country, City Chevrolet, and Fred Jones Ford in downtown OKC.
Sue retired in 2005 due to health issues and she then had more time to enjoy her hobbies such as quilting and creating new recipes such as her pumpkin pie cake and Asian slaw. Sue was independent an ornery woman who loved to make others laugh. She had an interesting sense of humor and she considered herself extremely witty, though her children may disagree. Music played a big part of Sue’s life and she enjoyed listening to country music, rock and roll, or anything with a beat with which she could dance. She grew up having family dance-offs with her mom and daughter. She was never happier then when she was surrounded by her kids, grandkids, and great grandkids. Sue was a loving mother, a proud grandmother and great grandmother, and caring sister who made a profound impact on the lives of many people. She will be missed by all who knew and loved her.
Sue was preceded in death by her parents JT and Kathleen Flanary and a nephew Terry Flanary.She is survived by her children Shurina Hill, and Shaun Harris; a brother Joe Flanary and wife Debbie; 3 grandkids: Dustin Bailey and wife Denise, Ross Garner, and Sevina Stockton; 4 great grandkids Mariah, Josiah, Ryleigh, Adelynn Bailey; she is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, and other beloved family and friends.
