

Verna Mae Johnston, 89 year-old longtime resident of Del City, Oklahoma, passed away Dec. 4, 2015 in Tuttle, Oklahoma. Born January 27, 1926 in Independence, Oklahoma, she was the daughter of Joseph Patrick Wallis and Nellie Evelyn (Nealy) Wallis. Verna was a longtime employee at Western Electric, working in both assembly and testing. She loved her family and put them first in all things; she loved sewing, cooking, and dancing. When her son Larry Joe attended the School for the Deaf in Sulphur, OK for thirteen years she never failed to visit him regularly. She was very close to her identical twin sister, Verda Fay over their entire lifetimes. Verna was preceded in death by her parents; 2 husbands; 3 brothers; 4 sisters; including Verda Fay, and 1 grandson, Justin Oldham. Survivors include 2 sons, Carlos and his wife Betty Bromlow of Del City, OK; and Larry Joe Bromlow of Tulsa, OK; 2 daughters, Mary Sue and her husband Dean Oldham of Moore, Oklahoma; and Lois Mae and her husband Steve Ackman of Boulder, CO; 11 grandchildren; many great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; 1 sister, Voisie Fritz of Texhoma, OK; and a number of nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, December 8, 2015 at Bill Eisenhour Northeast Chapel, 8805 NE 23rd St., OKC, OK, 73141. Burial will follow in Arlington Memory Gardens, Midwest City, Oklahoma.
