February 7, 1952 – February 5, 2026
Vickie Jo Reifschneider Anderson passed away peacefully on February 5, 2026, just two days shy of her 74th birthday. She was born on February 7, 1952, to Verlon and Milt Reifschneider. Her mother was a devoted schoolteacher, and her father served as a soil conservationist for the state of Kansas — careers rooted in service, stewardship, and community. From them, Vickie inherited a deep respect for education, perseverance, and caring for others - values that guided her path in life.
A Kansas native, Vickie was a proud Kansas State Wildcat, graduating with a degree in life sciences and completing a certificate in physical therapy at the University of Kansas Medical Center. Vickie’s work in physical therapy touched many lives, including not only her patients, but also the students she mentored, and the staff she worked alongside throughout her career.
Vickie was known for her natural ability to encourage others - to offer wisdom, reassurance, and unwavering support to family and friends alike. Vickie never said no when it came to helping others, from ringing bells for the Salvation Army at Christmastime for more than a decade, to starting the Souper Bowl Sunday fundraiser at St. Luke’s United Methodist Church, to mentoring students at Emerson North Alternative School, to setting records at her local blood bank by donating platelets every two weeks for more years than we could count.
She is survived by her loving husband, Mark Anderson, and her sons, Ben and Charlie, who were the pride and joy of her life. Her legacy of kindness, devotion, and love - with wit and recalcitrance - will continue through the many lives she touched. She will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
In lieu of flowers, her family has requested that donations be made to your local NPR, PBS, or Planned Parenthood in her honor. These are organizations that Vickie felt deeply connected to and passionately supported.
We will celebrate Vickie’s life on February 20th at 2 pm at Hahn-Cook/Street & Draper Funeral Home, 6600 Broadway Ext. OKC, OK 73116. Vickie made every room she walked into a little more purple, and her family asks that in her honor everyone wear something purple to demonstrate that Vickie touched your life as well as ours.
