

Sam was born in Pittsburgh, PA on August 30, 1928 to Mary Miller Dykeman and Morgan Dykeman. He graduated from Northeast High School, Oklahoma City in 1946. In high school he lettered in baseball and football and was a member of the All City Football team. He graduated from Oklahoma A & M College with a degree in Business Management and was a member of Sigma Chi Fraternity. He went on to attend the University of Oklahoma where he graduated with a law degree in 1953. He served his country in the U.S. Army. Upon being honorably discharged he commenced the practice of law in Oklahoma City which he continued to do for approximately 65 years. He was a member of the Oklahoma Bar Association for over 70 years. Sam was a member of First Presbyterian Church of Oklahoma City for over 80 years. He served his church at various times as a Sunday school teacher, Deacon, Elder and Trustee of the Endowment Fund.
Sam was predeceased by his first wife, Marjorie Mounger Dykeman, his daughter, Melissa Dykeman Hughes and his second wife, Jannis Culver Dykeman.
He is survived by his two sons, William S. Dykeman and David B. Dykeman and his granddaughter, Lauren Olivia Dykeman Ordiway and great-granddaughters, Goldie Luella Ordiway and Jewel Monroe Ordiway.
Services will be held on Wednesday, August 13th at 10:00 o’clock a.m. at the Chapel of First Presbyterian Church, 1001 N.W. 25th St., Oklahoma City with interment following at Resurrection Cemetery, 7500 W. Britton Rd., Oklahoma City.
