

Mack was born September 6, 1940, in Muskogee, OK, to Lillie McElwee Dossett and William M. McElwee, Sr. He graduated from Manual Training High School, Muskogee, OK in 1959. He continued his education with a Bachelor of Science Degree from Langston University and later received a Master’s Degree in Education from UCO. Mack taught high school math for one year in Frederick, OK, and for the next 33 years in the Oklahoma City area. He retired in 2006.
Mack was a dedicated teacher and coach who loved his work. He had a real talent for working with young people on the football field, the basketball court, the baseball field and the classroom. His students loved him then and love him still. He had a beautiful voice and sang with several groups professionally. He was always willing to share his musical gift with friends and family. Mack was a faithful man who loved God, loved his family and friends, loved music, loved all sports and family trips to Las Vegas.
Mack is preceded in death by his mother, father, and 2 sisters, Patsy Moore and Patsina McElwee. He is survived by his wife of 40 years, Roma McElwee, daughter, Michele McElwee, and 3 brothers, Climmie C. Young and wife, Erma, Booker Young and wife, Dorothy, and James Dossett and wife, Pam. He is also survived by his 2 brothers-in-law, Rhon Mathis and wife, Donna, Max Mathis, and his sister-in-law, Reinette Young as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends near and far away.
Mack was a loving husband and father. He was married to the love of his life, Roma, and father to the joy of his life, Michele. They will miss him forever.
The family will receive guests from 4-6 pm Sunday at the funeral home. Funeral Services will be held Monday, July 25th at 2 pm in the Hahn-Cook chapel with interment to follow at Memorial Park Cemetery.
