Wilsie Lee Morehead

Wilsie was born March 13, 1945, to Cecil Busby and Amanda Latham in Martin Tennessee. In 1959 Amanda moved her two daughters Wilsie and Barbara to Missouri where Wilsie met Joseph Morehead. They were married November 24th, 1961. At a young age, she was blessed to travel the USA as a military wife and become the mother of five children. However, motherhood never stopped her from pursuing knowledge and wisdom. She earned her GED in 1977 through Sedalia Community College and became a self-educated woman through encyclopedias, dictionaries, thesauruses, maps, and The Guinness Book of World Records. She took great pride in teaching her children and passing down the knowledge she gained throughout her life. In fact, thanks to her love of learning and teaching, each of her children knew how to spell “Czechoslovakia” by the age of five — something the family still smiles about today. She was an incredible woman — strong, loving, protective, and selfless in every way. She loved her children fiercely and made countless sacrifices throughout her life to care for and protect each one of them. Each of her children carries a beautiful piece of her within them — her strength, her heart, her spirit, and her passionate love. Those are things that will never fade. She treated everyone blessed enough to cross her path as one of her own. Once she greeted you with “Hey baby,” you were met with warmth, grace, love, admiration, and genuine care. Anyone who knew her likely has a food story to tell. She had a way of feeding people that made them feel welcomed, comforted, and loved. She was truly one of a kind and will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her. Although our hearts are heavy, we are thankful that she is now resting peacefully until the day we meet again in the Kingdom of God. Wilsie was preceded in death by Joseph Morehead, her mother Amanda Edwards, grandson Jarrett Evans, and great-great-grandchildren, Jalynn Johnson and Elliot Jennings. She will be deeply deeply missed by her 5 children, daughter Avonda & (Timothy) Henderson, son Joseph & (Melissa) Morehead, daughter Angelo & (Carlos) Tillman, daughter A'ndria & (Gerry) Branch, daughter Amentha Cashaw, sister Barbara & (Donnie Bell) grandchildren Luvitia, Kenisha, Christopher, Adrianne, Kalisha, Dominique, Jeffrey, Ashley, Jennifer, Jeremy, Alexandria, Aaliyah, Gerry, Amanda, Kaci & a host of great grandchildren, great-great grandchildren, and nieces and nephews.The Morehead family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks during this difficult time.
