Alex was the youngest child of the late Jacob Letting and Salina Letting, and a cherished brother to Pascal, Johnpaul, Chemutai, Veronica, and Hosea. From his earliest days, he was a jovial and dedicated young man, full of laughter, kindness, and responsibility. He loved people deeply and took pride in caring for livestock, embodying the values of compassion and hard work.
Later, Alex built his own family. He was married to Gladys and a loving father to their son, Jacksall Bitok, who will carry forward his legacy of love and resilience.
Alex’s journey of learning and achievement began at Kapkagaon Primary School, continued through Fr. Kuhn Academy and Terige High School, and led him to the United States in 2011 on a track and field scholarship at Young Harris College. His athletic discipline and “fighting spirit” defined him both on and off the track.
In 2012, Alex joined the United States Army, serving with honor at home and abroad, including at the Landstuhl Regional Medical Center in Germany. His courage and dedication were evident in every role he embraced. Most recently, he pursued nursing at MidAmerica Nazarene University in Kansas, preparing to graduate this May—a career path that reflected his compassionate heart and commitment to serving others.
Alex’s earthly journey now returns to its beginning. He will be laid to rest in his ancestral home of Tuiyobei, Kapkagaon, Lessos, surrounded by the love of family and community.
As we remember Alex, let us hold close the words of 2 Timothy 4:7:
“I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith.”
Rest in eternal peace, Alex. You have finished the race, and you are heading home.
A Funeral Service will be held at Neema Community Church, 621 S Lee Ave, Olathe, KS 66061, on April 10, 2026, from 5:30 pm to 7:00 pm.
