

Araundel Lenora Goodyear, 79, of Olathe, Kansas passed away at home surrounded by her loving family and friends on Monday, August 16, 2021. She will forever be remembered as a loving mother, Mimi and friend to everyone that came into her life.
“Del” as she was known by her family and friends was born on January 2, 1942 in Fort Myers, Florida to Raymond Leroy and Marian (Leslie) Smith. She attended and graduated from Coral Gables High School, in Coral Gables, Florida. She met and married the love of her life Samuel Lee Goodyear on June 15, 1961 in Fort Worth, Texas. Together they raised their two daughters Leslie and DeeDee.
Del was a leader in Job’s Daughters International as well as a member of the Order of Eastern Star. She enjoyed spending time with her family, and nothing gave her more pleasure in life than spending time with her grandbabies. She enjoyed cooking for anyone and everyone (The Southern Bell in her), volunteering for numerous organizations including the Olathe elementary schools, knitting and giving her love to family, friends and sometimes strangers. For 25 plus years, she had a Daycare in her home caring and loving numerous children in the Olathe area who were still visiting her the days before she passed. She will be sadly missed.
Del is preceded in death by her parents Raymond and Marian Smith and her husband of forty three years Samuel Lee Goodyear who passed away August 19, 2004. She is survived by her two daughters, Leslie Lee Goodyear of Olathe, Kansas and DeeDee and Scott (Scoot) Morse of Olathe, Kansas. Left behind to cherish her memories are her three grandbabies, Logan Morse, Kaden Morse and Samantha Morse along with her sweet four legged Greyhound “Brook”.
A “Celebration of Life” will be held from 11:30 a.m to 12 p.m., Saturday, August 21st, 2021 at the McGilley & Frye Funeral Home located at 105 East Loula Street Olathe, Kansas 66061. Visitation will begin at 10:00 a.m. Saturday prior to the service.
