

Audrey Joan Lankenau, a beloved and cherished resident of Olathe, Kansas, passed away on January 19, 2026, at the age of 95. Born on August 13, 1930, Audrey was known for her generous, humorous, and thoughtful nature, which endeared her to all who knew her.
Audrey's early life was marked by her upbringing in Joliet, Illinois, where she attended Joliet High School. Raised by her grandparents alongside her sister, she embarked on her professional journey by working for the railroad after graduation. Audrey's life took a significant turn when she was introduced to her husband Floyd by his brother Vernon, with whom she was involved in Rural Youth. The couple shared memorable times in Ft. Riley, where Floyd served as an Army training officer. Their union was celebrated in Joliet, coinciding with her grandparents' Golden Anniversary, during which they also held their reception party. Audrey raised four sons: Roger, Ross, Gordon, and Wayne.
Audrey had a profound love for barbershop music, dedicating 30 years to performing in quartets and participating in several Sweet Adeline choruses. Her family frequently traveled to barbershop conventions, and one of her proudest moments was winning a silver medal with the KC Sweet Adeline Chorus. She was deeply committed to 4-H, finding joy in promoting her sons' participation in county fairs, particularly in showing cattle.
Audrey Joan Lankenau will be remembered for her vibrant spirit and the joy she brought to those around her. Her legacy lives on in the hearts of her family and friends, who will forever treasure the memories of her thoughtful and humorous nature.
She was preceded in death by her grandparents, her husband Floyd, her son Ross, and her sister Marty. She is survived by her sons Roger of Olathe, Gordon of Melissa, Texas, and Wayne of Wichita. Audrey's generous spirit and cherished presence will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
A memorial service will be held to honor Audrey on Friday, January 23, 2026 at 10 AM at McGilley and Frye Funeral Home, 105 E. Loula St., Olathe, KS 66061. A graveside service will follow at Pleasant Valley Cemetery in Overland Park, KS.
