Clifton Ray Baldwin, 95, of Olathe, Kansas passed away surrounded by his loving family on Friday, March 4, 2022 at the Olathe Hospice House. He will forever be remembered as a devoted husband, loving father, brother, uncle and friend to everyone he knew.
“Mike” as he was known by his family and friends was born on April 4, 1926 in Jamesport Missouri to Joseph I. and Zona (Ferrell) Baldwin. Born in Davies County, at age 8 he and his family moved to Monroe County. There they stayed in the area until 1950. He served his country honorably in the U.S. Army during World War II from July of 1944 through March of 1946. He met and married the love of his life Maxine Watson.
He moved to Olathe in July of 1956. He worked as a mechanic and welder for a construction company until he retired on July 1, 1977. He served as a member of the Masonic Lodge, Eastern Star, American Legion Post 153 of Olathe, Ks. and the Disabled American Veterans. Clifton was also a member of the 101 Operating Engineers Union and the Retirees Club where he served as Vice President. He enjoyed spending time with his family.
Clifton is preceded in death by his parents and his son Bennie R. Baldwin who passed away on March 15, 1949. He is also preceded by his two brothers; Elmer Baldwin and Wilford Baldwin. He is survived by his loving wife of 74 years S. Maxine Baldwin of the home, two sons; Edward I. Baldwin and his wife Dorothy of Harrogate, TN., Lee I. Baldwin and his wife Kathy of Olathe, KS. and one sister, Faye Hickman of St. Charles, MO. He also leaves behind several nieces and nephews. He will be sadly missed.
Clifton will be cremated according to his wishes. Inurnment will take place in Prairie View Cemetery Hunnewell, MO.
