

Dorothy was cremated according to her wishes. A Celebration of Life Service will be 10:00 a.m. Friday, January 24, 2014 at Knox United Presbyterian Church 9595 W. 95th St. Overland Park, Kansas. A reception immediately following the service will be at the church. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made in her honor to Knox United Presbyterian Church or Friends of Johnson County Developmental Supports.
Dorothy will forever be remembered as a devoted wife, loving mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend to everyone she met. Dorothy was born on March 9, 1931 in Kingman, Kansas to William Scott and Genevieve (Martin) Speer. Dorothy was from the Speer family that settled in Olathe in the late 1800’s. She married the love of her life Frederick Charles Sivyer and together they raised their family in Overland Park and were charter members of Knox United Presbyterian Church.
Dorothy is preceded in death by her parents William and Genenieve Speer, her infant child and brother Bill Speer and his wife Jo. Survivors include her husband of 61 years Fred Sivyer, daughters: Ann Sivyer (Susie), Sarah Hill (Jeff), Katharine Sivyer, Mary Sivyer (Leo Geismar) and son Fred Sivyer II. Left behind to cherish her memory are her two grandchildren Bryan and Jordan Hill. She will be sadly missed.
