

Eleanor Renner Trager, 99, passed away peacefully, surrounded by her loved ones in Bentonville, Arkansas on Friday, June 6, 2014. She will be dearly missed. She graduated from Shawnee Mission North High School in 1933, then went to work for KC P&L in Kansas City, MO. She married Charles Pete Trager of Shawnee, Kansas, a veteran of World War II, who preceded her in death June, 1998. They had two (2) children Robert (Thorne) Miller Trager, who presently resides in Bella Vista, AR; and Marla Dee Trager Daniel and husband, Gary Daniel, who reside in Blue Eye, MO. She was also preceded in death by her parents, George and Esther Renner of Shawnee, KS; two sisters, Mildred Cooley, and Dorothy McNatt, and one brother, Bud Renner. Eleanor has six (6) grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren: Kimberly Gill and husband, Ward, of Rogers, AR, have 5 daughters: Haley, Kelsey, Madison, Sarah and Mary Claire. Cyndie Jacks, has a daughter, Abby, of Trophy Club, Texas. Clifford Trager and wife, Alice, of Parkville, MO, have 3 children: Jordan, Mallory and Caitlyn. Curt Daniel and wife, Chris reside in Lenexa, KS and have 3 sons: Josh, Mitch, and Cole. Chuck Daniel and companion, Robb Puckett, reside in Dallas, TX. Eric Daniel and wife, Mindy, have 3 children: Dylan, and twin daughters Ella and Nora, who reside in Olathe, KS.
Eleanor’s family were early Johnson County, KS residents who lived on farm acreage facing Renner Road (named for the family) in what was part of Shawnee, KS. The family home still stands near the east corner of Highway 10 and Renner Road. Eleanor was the last living Charter Member of St. Marks Lutheran Church, Olathe, KS established in 1948. She was a long-standing church council member, Sunday School Superintendent, and later active in the WELCA Quilting Group. She enjoyed cooking and baking, having hosted many church and family picnics on the family farm at 147st Street & Switzer, gardening, flowers, her grandchildren, playing cards, dominoes and reading.
Visitation will be Friday, June 13th from 5:30pm to 7:30pm at McGilley & Frye Funeral Home located at 105 East Loula in Olathe, KS. The life celebration service will be Saturday, June 14th at 10am at St. Marks Lutheran Church, located at 21155 College Blvd. Olathe, KS. Immediately followed by the interment service at Oak Lawn Memorial Gardens 13901 Blackbob Road. In lieu of flowers the family suggests contributions to the St. Marks Church Memorial Fund.
