Farro Giannola

Farro was born November 13, 1938 in St. Louis, MO to Salvatore and Mary (Sodaro) Giannola. After graduating from Central High School, he attended Washington University for engineering. In 1959, Farro joined the U.S. Army Reserve and was honorably discharged six years later. He began his career in St. Louis at McDonnell Douglas as a mechanical engineer. In 1963 Farro married the love of his life, Joan Gevermuehle. Farro and Joan, along with their three sons, moved to Lincoln, NE where Farro spent the remainder of his career working for Isco Industries. After retiring Farro and Joan moved to Olathe, KS to be close to their sons and families. Farro enjoyed watching his grandchildren’s sporting events, golfing, bowling, and loved a good game of cards at every opportunity. Farro and Joan were active members of their Catholic parishes, and enjoyed live Broadway shows.

Preceding him in death were his wife of 56 years, Joan in 2020; son Mark in 2021; his parents, and sister Dominica (Giannola) Rohlfing of St. Louis, MO. Farro is survived by his sons Michael, wife Tracey, of Overland Park, KS; Scott, wife Janelle, of Lee’s Summit, MO; and daughter-in-law Becky Giannola of Olathe, KS. He is also survived by seven grandchildren, Casey, Cole (wife Emma), Austin, Tanner, Jason, Soren and Hadley Giannola. Farro is survived by three siblings, a sister, Theresa Cissell of St. Charles, MO; brother John, wife Lorena of St. Charles, MO; brother Donald, wife Kathy, of Kearney, MO. He is also survived by many loved nieces, nephews and friends.

A visitation for Farro will be held Saturday, April 9, 2022 from 8:00 AM to 10:00 AM at McGilley & Frye Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 105 E. Loula Street, Olathe, KS 66061. Following the visitation will be a graveside service from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM at Resurrection Cemetery, 8300 Quivira Rd, Lenexa, KS 66215.
