Imogene L. Inman Brooks

Imogene Brooks, 83, of Olathe, Kansas passed away at home surrounded by her loving family on Wednesday, January 2, 2013. She will forever be remembered as a devoted wife, loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother, great great grandmother, daughter, sister, aunt, and special friend to everyone she met.

Imogene was born on January 22, 1929 in Tyrone, Missouri to Lewis and Josephine (Tremble) Inman. In her spare time she enjoyed reading, cross stitching and cooking for her family. Some of her most cherished moments were the times she spent with her family and grandchildren. Imogene served as a school bus aid for a short time in the Olathe School District.

Imogene is preceded in death by: her parents: Lewis and Josie Inman, husband: Bobby L. Brooks who passed away in December of 1998, their son: Danny Brooks who passed away in May of 2008 and her sister: Maxine Sawyer. She is survived by her children: Roy Brooks and his wife Wendy of Monrovia, California, Donnie Brooks of Olathe, Kansas, Sharon (Cricket) Chesney and her husband Robert of LaCygne, Kansas, Connie Sue Graybill and her husband Robert of Olathe, Kansas and Debra Kern and her partner Dean Williams of Olathe, Kansas. Imogene is also survived by her sister: Esther Bonillas and her husband Bob of Huntington Beach, California, Left behind to cherish her memory are her 17 grandchildren, 33 great grandchildren and 10 great great grandchildren. She will be sadly missed by everyone who knew her.

Funeral services will be 9:00 a.m. Monday morning January 7, 2013 at the McGilley & Frye Funeral Home. Imogene will be laid to rest with her husband in Leavenworth National Cemetery Leavenworth, Kansas. Visitation will be 3:00-5:00 p.m. Sunday, January 6, 2013 at the funeral home.
