Hank was a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather and is survived by his wife of 33 years, Connie; daughter, Denise (Mick) Gundy; sons, Brian (Lisa) Hipp, John (Elaine) Hipp, Joe (Kristen) Hipp; stepdaughter, Melissa (Mitch) Clemons; and sister, Martha Troutman. Hank also leaves behind five grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Hank was preceded in death by his parents; son, Allan Hipp; stepson, Chris Borland; and great-grandson, Kyle Gundy.
Hank grew up in Tulsa in a small house his dad built. Hank was raised in the days of an outhouse and an ice box. As a kid, he rode his bike all around town and played outside with his sister and cousins until the sun went down.
Hank held a number of job titles over the years – salesman, Admissions Director for private colleges, business owner, and photographer. Hank enjoyed several hobbies after retiring – photography (for fun this time), painting, and gardening.
Hank moved numerous times throughout his adult life and spent considerable time in Omaha, NE; Des Moines, IA; Chicago, IL; and Seattle, WA. After raising kids of his own, he moved to Nashville, TN in 1989 where he met Connie and would live for the next 30+ years and help raise her two children as well. Hank and Connie moved to Lane, KS in 2020 to be closer to Hank’s kids. These last three years of his life included many valuable memories, visits, and meals with his family.
Hank was funny, kind, and just one of those people that everyone loved being around. He loved telling jokes and playing tricks on family and friends. He enjoyed playing cards, sharing stories, and genuinely cared for others from all different walks of life. He will be missed by all that knew him.
A memorial service will take place in Nashville, TN, at a later date.
