Jennifer Renee Schaal 44, of Lenexa, Kansas passed away peacefully in her sleep, at home on Thursday, November 9, 2023. She will forever be remembered as a loving daughter, wife, granddaughter, sister, aunt and friend by everyone she knew.
Jennifer was born on March 26, 1979 to Gary and Elaine Schaal. She graduated from Blue Valley North High School and participated in Track and Field, Volleyball and Varsity Soccer there. She later attended Fashion Institute of Technology in New York.
Jennifer married Manuel Velasquez-O’Compo on October 4, 2010.
Over the years, Jennifer worked in retail settings and enjoyed creating product displays, She loved to shop and had an eye for fashion. She also loved animals and took pleasure in watching and feeding the squirrels on her back deck. Other favorite pastimes were beach vacations and visiting the KC Zoo and Aquarium and playing games.
Jennifer was preceded in death by her grandparents, Charles and Mary Ann Schaal, and John and Dorothy Wactor, Uncles Marc Wactor and Larry Schaal. She is survived by her husband, Manuel Velesquez-O’Compo, her parents, Gary and Elaine Schaal, brothers Brian Schaal and Keith Hillard, her sister Heather (Andrew) Hill, nieces Kelle Hillard, Ella and Faith Schaal and nephew Weston Schaal, Aunt Betsy (Gary) Mathews, Uncle Alan Wactor, Aunt Marjory (Ed) Rogers, and cousins, Deidre Malcom, John Mathews, Sara Mathews, John Rogers and Susan Montes.
Jennifer loved God and accepted Christ as her Savior and went to be with them at the place prepared for her.
A “Celebration of Life” service will be held at 1 p.m. on Friday, December 1, 2023 at the McGilley & Frye Funeral Home, 105 East Loula Street, Olathe, Kansas. A time of visitation will take place from 12 p.m. to 1 p.m. one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions “In loving memory of Jennifer Renee Schaal” can be made to Johnson County Mental Health Center, 920 Spruce Street, Olathe, Kansas 66061.
