Jerry Lee Tyner, 52, of Gardner, Kansas passed away at the Olathe Medical Center on Thursday, August 6, 2020. He will forever be remembered as a devoted husband, loving father, grandpa, brother, uncle and friend to everyone he met.

Jerry was born on February 19, 1968 in Springfield, Illinois to Richard Edwin and Mary Ann (MacGregor) Tyner. He attended and graduated from Olathe South High School and earned his Bachelor’s Degree in Business from University of Phoenix College. Jerry worked as a supervisor for DuPont. He was a dedicated employee for over 24 years. Jerry met the love of his life, Kim Winfree. They were married on July 27, 1991. Together they raised their five children, Mariah, Karah, Jennifer, Stephanie and Joshua.

Jerry was an avid “Raiders” football fan. He enjoyed spending time with his family, playing poker, sports, cooking, and watching westerns on television. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Gardner, Kansas. He will be sadly missed.

Jerry is preceded in death by his parents Richard and Mary Ann Tyner, He is survived by his loving wife of 29 years, Kim Tyner and his daughter Karah Tyner and her fiancé Cullen Becknell of the home, daughter’s, Mariah Tyner and her fiancée Kyle of Wellsville, Kansas, step-daughters Jennifer Hale of Emporia, Kansas and Stephanie Hale of Olathe, Kansas and his son, Joshua Lee Tyner of Gardner, Kansas. Jerry was a grandpa of five, 4-granddaughters, I-grandson and another grandson on the way. Jerry is also survived by his sister, Theresa Tyner of Spring Hill, Kansas and his two pet cats, ‘Snookers” and “Twilight”.

Jerry will be cremated according to his wishes. A “Celebration of Life” is scheduled for 2:00 p.m. Saturday, September 19, 2020 at the McGilley & Frye Funeral Home. Due to the current pandemic, masks are required by everyone who enters the funeral home, and all Covid-19 regulations issued in the state of Kansas will be implemented. Jerry was only 7 years old when he was in the class that I taught. I remember him as this little guy with long hair, cute as a button and very sweet, and now he is a grandpa. Only recently did I locate him on Facebook. My deep sympathy to his loved ones.

I am so sorry to hear of Jerrys passing. I worked with Jerry for many years at Danisco/DuPont. He was always helpful and willing to help others. May peace be with the family' during this difficult time. I know he is with our Savior Jesus Cnrist.
