Jesse Carroll Borden, Olathe, KS passed away July 22, 2020. He was born December 25, 1949 to Jeannettie (Cash) and Emmitt Borden in Kansas City, MO. He grew up in Osawatomie, KS and graduated from Osawatomie High School in 1967. He attended Washburn University and worked for the State Hospital in Topeka. In 1969 he started working for General Motors at the Delco Battery Plant in Olathe, KS where he later retired after 30 years. He married Elaine Hodgson on August 30, 1974. They had three children: Kary Borden (Skylar) of Salem, Oregon; Eric Borden (Sara) of Drexel, MO and Carolyn Gonzales (Ryan) of Topeka, KS. He was a proud Uncle to Jeremy Borden (Gena) of Edwardsville, KS. He enjoyed being with his kids and grandkids. He loved being around people, never met a stranger, and enjoyed cooking and trying new recipes and sharing that love for cooking with his loved ones. He would give the shirt off his back to help others. He was a volunteer for Olathe Hospice, and even received the Volunteer of the Year Award in 2016.
He is survived by his wife, kids, and grandkids: Kalab Borden, Klayton Borden, Kasey Borden, Russell Borden, Brett Gonzales and Addison Gonzales; brother, Ed Lindsay; sister, Joann Borden of Kansas City, MO; mother-in-law, Mae Dean Hodgson of Eureka, KS; brothers and sisters-in-law: David Hodgson (Rosaleah) of Ponca City, OK; Steven Hodgson (Donna) of Hillsboro, OR and Joel Hodgson (DJ) of Tulsa, OK; many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, friends and family.
He was preceded in death by his parents and father-in-law, Clayton Hodgson.
There will be a gathering Thursday, July 30 from 5:30pm - 7:30 pm at McGilley and Frye Funeral Home, 105 E. Loula St., Olathe, KS 66061.
