Jo Ann Kirkland Thomas

Jo Ann Thomas, 60, of Olathe, Kansas passed away at home surrounded by her loving family on Friday, November 13, 2015. She will be forever remembered as a devoted wife, loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, aunt and friend to everyone she met. Jo was born on January 19, 1955 in Franklin County / Ottawa, Kansas to Harold Robert and Helen Ida (Dragieff) Kirkland. She attended and graduated from Central Heights High School. After graduation she earned her Bachelor’s degree in Business at Baker University. Jo worked as an Order Administrator in electronics for Garmin Industries. She enjoyed the times she spent with her family and especially the times spent with her grandchildren.

Jo is preceded in death by her parents, Harold and Helen Kirkland, three sisters, Wilda Marrow, Vicki Shaffer and Virginia Finch, three brothers, Steven Kirkland, Tony Kirkland and Bill Kirkland, mother-in-law, Careylea Thomas and step-son, Ronald R. Thomas Jr. She is survived by her loving husband of 29 years Ronald R. Thomas and her faithful companion “Scooter” of the home, son, Kenneth L. Foulk Jr and his wife Melissa of Osawatomie, Kansas and daughter Christy A. Downey and her husband Jimmy of Olathe, Kansas. Left behind to cherish her memory are her four grandchildren, Tanner L. Foulk, Sara L. Downey, Christian D. Downey and Dylan Snow. She will be sadly missed by her great granddaughter, Nora R. Foulk, along with her eight siblings: Donna White of Pierce, Kansas, Helen Marie Schneider (Larry) of Pomona, Kansas, Debbie Rogers (Gene) of Little River, Kansas, Robert Leroy Kirkland (Katie) of Rantoul, Kansas, Dottie Jackson of Rantoul, Kansas, Johnnie Kirkland (Danielle) of Rantoul, Kansas, Sally A. Brewer (Tom) of Osawatomie, Kansas and Cindy Schmidt (Tom) of Paola, Kansas.

A celebration of Life will be Tuesday, November 17th. Visitation 1:00 p.m to 3:00 p.m. at the McGilley & Frye Funeral Home 105 East Loula Street Olathe, Kansas. Jo will be cremated according to her wishes.
