Laura Mae Schellinger

Laura M. (Ratts) Schellinger passed away at the Kansas City Hospice House on November 12, 2012. Memorial Gathering will be held from 6-8 p.m., Thurs., Nov. 15, 2012 at the McGilley & Frye Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions can be made to the KC Hospice House and/or Arthritis Foundation.

Laura was born on Feb 17, 1927 in Ashland, MO to Bill and Ada Mustain. She spent all of her young life in Missouri moving to Kansas City after World War II, where she met and married Lyle Ratts. They moved to Concordia, KS to help with a family business and this is where their only child Jerry was born. Later they moved to Sunflower, KS where they both worked at the Powder Plant. In 1955, they moved to Olathe where Laura started her 35 year career in the banking business. Laura’s husband, Lyle, passed away in 1994, and she remarried to Dr. Richard Schellinger of Emporia. After living in Emporia, Laura and Richard moved back to Olathe where Richard passed in 2002. Laura has one son, Jerry (wife Denise), 2 grandchildren, Tory (Teresa) Ratts and Pepper (Bob) Jaso, 2 great-grandchildren, Darion and Zach Jaso.
