

and went to meet the Lord on March 15th, 2022. He was the first child of Luther Thomas
Walls, Sr and Lucy Belle (James) Walls. The family grew to include his five siblings, James
Walls, Fannie Mae Skeeters, and Jackie Walls, whom preceded him in death. He is survived by
his brother, Sidney Walls, and sister June Aaron.
Luther Jr was called L.T. during his lifetime. L.T. attended Davis Rural School, a one room
school with one teacher through the light grades. He graduated from Vienna High School in
1943. He joined the Navy in May of 1944 and after boot camp attended radio school for five
months. He then traveled to the South Pacific until his return in 1946.
When L.T. returned from Navy service he met his love, Ida Mae Rosenburg at Davis Community
Church. They were married June 26th, 1948, and were blessed with three children: Luther
Thomas III (deceased), Judith Elaine (Ralph Williams), and Robert Wayne (Lynne Howard-
Walls). He has seven grandchildren, Jennifer Walls, Brian Walls, Rachel McDuffie (Williams),
Jeremy Williams (Francine Williams), Brandon Walls (Karen Walls), Logan Walls (deceased), and
Dalton Walls. He has seven great-grandchildren, Madison Williams, Marcus Williams, Dylan
Williams, Kayla McDuffie, Peyton Walls, August Walls, and Tristan Walls.
L.T. and Ida enjoyed 67 years of married life until Ida’s passing on October 8th of 2015. During
their life they worked to provide for the family and also ministered to small congregations in
Oklahoma and Missouri. He enjoyed singing in the Amazing Grace Quartet. They joined the
Methodist Church of the Resurrection and enjoyed the fellowship of many friends.
He was in business building homes in the Kansas City area for many years. L.T. enjoyed
hunting, rebuilding his 1941 Plymouth, Big Band genre music, and time spent with loved ones.
He was a life-long learner with particular interests in history, poetry, and theology. L.T. was
especially gifted in music, memory, teaching scripture. He fought the good fight, finished the
race, and kept the faith. He was deeply loved and treasured.
Family and friends will gather to celebrate his life on Saturday, March 19th, 2022, at Wesley
Chapel Church of the Resurrection at 1pm.
