On September 7, 2020, at the age of 67, Lynn David Adkins of Olathe, Kansas passed at home while on Hospice Care battling Metastatic Mucinous Adrenocarcinoma with Signet Cell Features Cancer. Lynn was a husband, father, brother, son, and most of all friend.
Lynn was born in Ponca City on October 7,1952 to Frank David and Eva Mardel Adkins. Lynn moved from Ponca City to Ulysses, Kansas during his elementary school years and then to Lawrence, Kansas where he attend Junior High and High School. He graduated from Lawrence High School in 1970. He was a serious supporter of the Jayhawks and Chiefs and held season tickets for KU Basketball for many years.
Lynn married Carol Louise Moore on July 7,1973 in Winfield, Kansas and this union brought Nathan Lynn Adkins, DeSoto, Kansas; Alaine Rae Collins, Tonganoxie, Kansas; and Steven Shae Adkins, Nashville Tennessee into the world and they were the lights of his life.
Lynn was a member of the Baptist Church in Lawerence, Kansas and the Presbyterian Church in Olathe, Kansas. Lynn worked for the Winfield Police Department from 1972-1975 and then joined the Butler County, Kansas Sheriff Department and served as a Deputy Sheriff from1975-1979. He then began his career at City Service Gas in Winfield, Kansas which later became Southern Star Gas. He transferred to Olathe when the Winfield gas line division closed.
Lynn is survived by his wife Carol of Olathe, Kansas, mother Mardel and sister Vicky Ragsdale of Denison Texas, sons Nathan Lynn Adkins of DeSoto, Kansas, Steven Shae Adkins of Nashville, Tennessee and daughter Alaine Rae Collins of Tonganoxie, Kansas; grandchildren Michelle Leann Collins, Shea Carolynn Adkins, Cash Chadwick Adkins and many faithful friends (especially Fred). Lynn will be missed by all the many people who loved him.
