Madalene was born May 25, 1925 at Ingham, Nebraska and was the daughter of Ely and Bertha (Slonecker) Stinnette.
The Stinnette family moved from a homestead in the Arthur, Nebraska area to Ingham, which is southeast of North Platte, where Madalene was born and raised. Her post-secondary training lead Madalene to college in North Platte, NE with emphasis in secretarial studies after which she joined a dental office and became a dental assistant to Dr. R.O. Watkins in Curtis, NE.
Madalene married Dr. Allen R. Taylor, March 20, 1946, and lived in Cambridge, NE having 3 children Mike, Gerry, and Jane. During this time in Cambridge Madalene found herself maintaining and managing the home and 3 kids, assisting in the dental office business, being involved in numerous church activities, then in later years working for the Cambridge Telephone Company until she and Allen retired and moved to Sun City Arizona in 1987.
Unique experiences, to mention a few, for Madalene came early being the 7th child of 8 by sharing family living space in a house that measured 24 ft. by 24 ft. but according to a document “the congestion didn’t seem to affect the relationship between the children. They grew up with a great affection for each other.” This became evident because in their adulthood the children had a family reunion almost every year for years and years. Of course, living through the Great Depression influenced her outreach by helping the needy and homeless throughout her life. During her late teens she helped serve fried chicken and coffee to some of the 6 million service men who stopped at the North Platte train station and canteen during WWII.
In her middle thirties she suffered a severe stroke which took many years of recovery. As part of her recovery she opened a ceramic shop which helped improve the fine motor skills of her fingers and arms after which she became a nurse assistant and activities director at the Cambridge hospital. All in all, she learned to overcome adversity and change a successful life into a significance life. This attribute is a legacy to all who knew her.
Those left to cherish her memory are three children Mike and wife Vonda of Edgar, Nebraska, Gerry and wife Melody of Saint Cloud, Minnesota, and Jane and husband Don Morgan of Olathe, Kansas, 8 grandchildren, 3 step grandchildren, 18 great grandchildren and one sister Helen Thomalla of Littleton, Colorado.
She was preceded in death by her husband Dr. Allen Taylor April 4, 2001.
Her ashes will be interred along side her husband’s in Sunland Cemetery Sun City, Arizona.
Arrangements under the direction of McGilley & Frye Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Olathe, KS.
