Mary Morrison, 90, of Olathe, Kansas passed away on Sunday, December 15, 2019. She is survived by her son, Philip Holman of Independence, Missouri, two brothers, Eugene Schneider of Olathe, Kansas and Arthur Schneider of Malvern Arizona, two sisters, Naomi Bailey of Spring Hill, Florida and Eva Meyers of Harrisonville, Missouri. Plus numerous nieces and nephews and their offspring. She was one of a family of nine siblings.
Mary was born June 27, 1929 in Slater, Missouri to Frank and Mary (Lewis) Schneider. The family moved to a farm outside Gilliam, Missouri while she was still young. There she attended Gilliam C4 School where she graduated with honors.
After receiving her diploma from Gilliam High School, Mary moved to Kansas City, Missouri to attend Kansas City Business College. While living in Kansas City she met Frank Holman and the two were married September 1951.
Shortly thereafter they moved to the farm Mary was raised on. Working on and off for several years for company’s in Marshall, Slater and Gilliam Missouri using the skills she acquired from her business school training. Although much of her time on the farm was spent being a farmer and tending to the livestock.
Frank Holman passed away in 1977. A couple of years later, she sold the farm and moved to Independence, Missouri where she met Paul Morrison. They were married in 1984. Mary and Paul lived together in Olathe, Kansas until Paul’s death in 1999. She continued to live in Olathe, Kansas to raise her second family, (her goats) much to the dismay of the City ordinances.
She lived there tending to her four legged pets until she suffered a stroke on September 2, 2019. After that she was forced to move to a nursing home where she stayed until her time of death.
Memorial service 4:00 p.m. Saturday, December 21st at Kingdom Hall of the Jehovah’s Witnesses 1113 South Ridgeview Road Olathe, Kansas. A private family inurnment will take place at a later date.
