Mary Eva Taylor, age 97 of Olathe, Kansas passed away peacefully with her family by her side at Vintage Park in Baldwin City, Kansas. She will forever be remembered as a devoted wife, loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother, aunt, and a friend to everyone she had the pleasure of meeting.
She was born on August 12,1927 in Kincaid, Kansas, to her parents Mary Myrtle Primm (Hutchinson) and Carl William Primm. She graduated from Baker University and later became a school teacher.
Mary married her beloved USN CPO Ruben Taylor Jr. from Fortson, Georgia in September 1949. Mary was preceded in death by her mother, Mary Myrtle Primm, her father Carl William Primm Sr., and brother, Carl W. Primm, all of Olathe, Kansas.
She is survived by sister Elaine Harding of Bonnie Lake Washington, her two sons, Albert (Dawn) Taylor, of Baldwin City KS and Carl (Gayla) Taylor of Columbus NE, numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
Mary Eva was a lifetime member of the Eastern Star and in 2021 was recognized for her 50th year. Mary Eva and Ruben were members of the Olathe Running Club. They competed in the KC area road races and the National Senior Olympics, receiving numerous awards and medals.
Mary last competed in the Senior Olympics August 2013, winning gold and silver medals in the 5K and 10K respectively. Mary was awarded the Hafele Memorial Award in 2011 for Outstanding Kansas Athlete of the Year in Track and Field Events.
Mary Eva loved her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Mary Eva and Ruben where active members of College Church of the Nazarene for over 48 years.
