Mary Jane Thompson

Mary Jane (DeMotte) Thompson or known by many as Gigi, age 85, passed away on March 19, 2017 at her home. Visitation will be held on Monday, March 27th from 6-8 pm at the McGilley & Frye Funeral Home in Olathe, KS. A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, March 28th at 10:30 am, also at the funeral home. Inurnment will follow at the Shawnee Mission Memorial Gardens.

Mary Jane was born on July 6, 1931 in Topeka, KS. She was a long time Olathe resident and was associated with many activities involving the deaf community. She worked for Hyer Boot for 9 years and the Kansas School for the Deaf for 7 years. Mary Jane was married to Harold Thompson from 1951-1991. She loved to spend time with friends and family. Her laughter was music to our ears and she was the best cook ever. She will be missed by all. We love you.

Mary Jane was preceded in death by her parents Joseph K. DeMotte and Sara DeMotte Peavler, husband of 40 years, Harold R. Thompson, daughter Julie Thompson, brother Jack DeMotte and sister Nancy Liemen.

She is survived by her 5 children: Linda Clark of Flemington, MO; Judy DuVall and husband Wayne of Marysville, TN; Danny Thompson and wife Gayleen of Osawatomie, KS; Alvin Thompson and wife Kathy of La Cygne, KS; Bonnie Forth and husband Jim of Olathe, KS; 13 grandkids, 20 great grandkids, 2 great great grandkids; brothers Jerry DeMotte and George DeMotte and sister Pat Gannon.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Kansas School for the Deaf or the Olathe Deaf Club.
