Nancy Jeanne Delude

Nancy Reynolds Delude passed away quietly in the presence her loving daughter on January 6, 2015 at Hospice House in Olathe, Kansas. Born in Boston Massachusetts in 1932, Nancy was raised in Salem, Massachusetts. She graduated from Salem High School, Salem, Massachusetts in 1950. In 1951 she married Richard P. Delude also of Salem. Together they raised four children: Richard, who passed away in September 2015; Nancy Davis of Linn Valley, Kansas; Stephen Delude (Theresa) of Urbandale, Iowa and Donna Delude of Overland Park, Kansas.

The family moved to Des Moines, Iowa in 1961 and then in 1987 Nancy and her husband relocated to the Lenexa, Kansas area. A gifted administrator, her talents were most ably demonstrated as the manager of the Urbandale Golf Club. In that role she was the first female manger in the Des Moines, area. She continued her career in the administrative field as a medical secretary in various hospitals in the Des Moines and Kansas City areas.

A voracious reader, Nancy loved books and libraries. She volunteered at the Johnson County Library on 87th Street in Lenexa, Kansas. Her other interests included dancing to swing music and genealogy. Proud of her Yankee heritage, Nancy was a member of the Shawnee Mission Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution and was a descendant of Wilmont Reed who arrived on these shores in 1620 as a passenger on the Mayflower.

In addition to her husband of 64 years, Nancy is survived by her three children, sister Lynda Reynolds Coffill (Thomas) of Salem, Massachusetts; seven grandchildren, Christopher Delude of Des Moines, Iowa; Vanessa Delude of New Providence, Iowa; Thaddeus, Zachery (Jenn), and Nathaniel Delude of Urbandale, Iowa; Donald Davis of Raytown, Missouri, and Allison Davis of Olathe, Kansas; great grandchildren Alyssa and Cameron Delude of Des Moines, Iowa.

Nancy was predeceased by her parents T. Myron and Alice Reynolds of Middleton, Massachusetts,one brother, Donald of Salem, Massachusetts, her son Rick and granddaughter Ashley.

A Celebration of Life will be held on January 8, 2016 at 2:00 p.m. at the McGilley and Frye Funeral Home in Olathe, Kansas.
