

Nellie M. Letcher, 88, of Olathe, Kansas passed away surrounded by her family on Thursday, May 19, 2016 at Villa Saint Francis Nursing Home. She will forever be remembered as a devoted wife, mother, loving grandmother, great grandmother, sister, aunt and friend to everyone she met.
Nellie was born on October 2, 1927 in Paola, Kansas to Martin Bernard and Julia Belle (Shay) Morris. She attended school in Paola, Kansas. She married the love of her life Charles J. Letcher on September 15, 1947. Together they raised their two children Carolyn and Charles (Micky). Nellie was a member of St. Paul’s Catholic Church. She worked as a Distribution Clerk in the Johnson County Treasurer’s Office. She was a devoted mother to her children and grandchildren. She enjoyed watching KU Basketball, the Kansas City Royals and her favorite baseball player of all time was Mickey Mantle. Nellie is preceded in death by her husband of 63 years Charles J. Letcher who passed away in 2009, her parents Martin and Julia Morris and two brothers Bernard Morris and Harold Morris. She is survived by her daughter, Carolyn M. Patterson and her husband Thomas of Olathe, Kansas and her son Charles M. Letcher and his wife Carmen of Olathe, Kansas. Left to cherish her memory are her four grandchildren, Ethan Patterson, Colin Letcher, Courtney Ferrel and her husband Scott and Brian Letcher. She will be sadly missed by her two great grandchildren, Vivienne Ferrel and Rex Charlie Ferrel. Nellie is also survived by her two brothers, Dennis Morris of Olathe, Kansas and Thomas Morris and his wife Opal of Paola, Kansas.
Mass of Christian Burial will be will be 8:00 a.m. Saturday morning, May 21st at St. Paul Catholic Church, 900 S. Honeysuckle Drive in Olathe, Kansas. Interment will follow in Resurrection Catholic Cemetery, 83rd Quivira Road in Lenexa, Kansas. Visitation will be from 6:00-8:00 p.m. Friday, May 20th at the McGilley & Frye Funeral Home, 105 East Loula Street in Olathe, Kansas. The Rosary will be prayed at 7:45 p.m. Friday evening at the funeral home to conclude the visitation.
