Phillip Scott O'Hara, a beloved resident of Olathe, Kansas, passed away on November 29, 2025, at the age of 22. Phillip was born on October 31, 2003, in Salina, Kansas and was known for his selfless, hard-working, and kind-hearted nature.
He was honest, devoted, and beloved by all who knew him. His generous, humorous, and loyal spirit touched many lives, and his resilience and bravery were inspirational to those around him. Phillip was very cherished, thoughtful, and left a wonderful legacy.
Phillip graduated from Olathe North High School and OATC in 2022.
He was a dedicated member of the Operating Engineers Local 101 and worked diligently as a concrete pump mechanic at Concrete Placement, Inc. for six years. He was very musically talented, playing the guitar, French horn, and trumpet. He also enjoyed spending time in the country and being with family and friends.
Phillip was a single young man, survived by his two sisters, Kenisen and Elizabeth, his little brother Benjamin, his mother Christen Araceli (Nava) O'Hara, and his father Ryan Alexander O'Hara. He is also survived by his Uncle Eric Whitehead of Mt. Vernon, Wa., grandmother Donna Buchenau of Gypsum, Ks., and Grandpa Tom Nolan of Jacksonville, Fl. He was preceded in death by his Uncle Jonathan Whitehead.
Phillip was always willing to lend a helping hand in his community, whether it was assisting neighbors with mechanical issues or helping with yard work in any season. His devotion to his younger siblings was evident in everything he did. His selflessness inspired his younger sisters and brother to care for others in every possible way.
Phillip was very organized, had a good eye for authentic quality, and invested himself in multiple interests. He always made himself available to anyone in need, supporting his family and friends with unwavering loyalty.
A "Celebration of Life" for Phillip will be held at the McGilley & Frye Funeral Home 105 E. Loula Street, Olathe, KS on Friday morning, December 5, 2025, from 10:00 am to 11:00 am. Following the celebration, a visitation will take place at the same venue from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm.
Phillip’s family, friends, and coworkers greatly appreciate the outpouring of love and support from countless dear friends within our community.
His joyful smile, inspirational legacy, along with all the wonderful memories he created, will be cherished forever.
