Rick had long since left Florida, but he (and his wry humor) could not be forgotten.  I'm saddened to learn of his passing and it's a shame we've lost one of the all-around good guys.

I am having a hard time accepting God's decision to take you away from us.   I will cherish the memories of my baby brother and hope that God eases the pain for Lisa, Sam, and Kate as well as his loving brothers and sisters....Until I see you again..

Bill and I were saddened to hear of Rick's passing.  The pictures of all of you helped us through the shock, to see him smiling and enjoying his family put warm feelings in our hearts.  God bless you and remember their are some old friends out here who still love you.

Our hearts and prayers are with you. There are no words to expres the sorrow felt with Rick's sudden passing. Through the years at UD he was one of the gang I most enjoyed spending time with since there was always mischief and merriment. That has made for great memories! Though I have not seen you often since your wedding day, we have always kept in touch with Christmas updates. How invaluable these have been through the years. May you find peace in the days ahead as God holds you in the palm of his hand.

I am so sorry for your lose.  Could not believe what my mom was telling me.  I just looked at all the pictures you posted and can't believe how much Rick looks like Uncle Joe. Today is my birthday, and I'll be missing a card and a dollar from bro Rick.  Always faithful to the occassion, he loved his family and made sure he at least tried to come  to most of the functions if he could. I know you are thinking of and praying for us down here, which gives me comfort.

So many emotions we are all feeling --- anger, denial, utter sadness, numbness, heartbreak, unsaid words, unfair, remorse, pain, peace,…but mostly LOVE and the celebration of his life. The immense love we have for Ricky, and the love he had for all his siblings, his parents, Lisa and Sam and Katie, his nieces/nephews, his classmates and friends and workmates. The precious time we had with him will live on in our memories, photos and videos and his many pencil cards. Too short a time in this world, Rick, but in the next world, you will live forever. You will live in my heart, and like Laurie said “I'll see you in my dreams”.  Goodbye, my friend and brother, just for now.

I was fortunate to spend my U.D. days around Rick, truly one of the nicest people on the planet. Through the years, I always looked forward to his witty notes on his Christmas cards, his sense of humor was priceless. Dorothy and I are truly saddened by Rick's passing, and our prayers go out for not only Lisa, Sam and Kate, but for all who have been touched by his life. And there have been many who have been touched, awe are all better people because of that.

Aunt Lisa, Kate, and Sam, I am very sorry for your loss.  Uncle Rick will be missed dearly.  Your family is in our prayers.

Rick was part of our 5th Floor South gang in Stuart Hall at UD and the pitcher on our softball team. I also spent 4 years in ELE classes with him and attended his wedding to Lisa. He was a true UD friend and I have many great memories of times spent with him. He will be missed by all of us.

Rick and I were good friends the instant we met at UD in August 1976. Always a gentleman, true to his word, faithful as Old Yeller, quick to lend a hand, and smart as a whip, we shared plenty of stories and laughs together. Fremont and UD have lost a true brother who will be missed by many.

The world and our family is going to miss a first class individual in Rick. God is gaining something at this time we do not understand.  What I do understand is that all we can leave behind in this lifetime is Love. Rick certainly left that behind because we are all feeling his presence in the way he treated us and how we enjoyed being around him.  As we search for comfort my prayer is that we find peace in Rick's death.  Phillipians 4 will be our strength to make sense of this: "Have no anxiety at all, but in everything , by prayer and petition with thanksgiving, make your requests known to God.  Then the peace of God that surpasses all understanding  will guard your hearts in Christ Jesus."

Rick may you rest in peace in the loving arms of Jesus.

Rick was a great friend from our UD School of Engineering days. He was smart, genuine and really loved life! He helped many of us get thru some challenging labs and classes. My prayers go out to Lisa, Sam, & Katie.

A few days ago I spent some hours sorting through the "box of memories" that many of us collect in our lives.  Among them were a few notes and pictures from Rick, as our history goes back to an era long before e-mail.
I had just sent him a short note (Christmas card in the postal mail -- old school) and wanted to spend time on a longer e-mail, since I had recently received a postal letter from him as well.  Ironically, this was on December 31st.

Rick was the best roommate I could have hoped for.  He played guardian angel for me more than once in those four years at Dayton, toasted my wedding, and provided regular moral support and Burkett wit in the thirty some years since we graduated.

My deepest sympathy goes out to Lisa, Sam, Kate and all his siblings.

I will miss you, Rick!

Although we all don't agree with His decision, Uncle Rick is now watching over me and the rest of our family from up above in heaven with Grandma and Uncle Tony. I will always miss him and remember the times when I saw his genuine smile, warm heart and sweet spirit he always gave to me and my cousins. May our hearts heal from the passing of a wonderful man in our lives and that Uncle Rick may be by my side and all of ours forever. RIP Uncle Rick. We all love you soo much!!!!!

I will miss my big brother Rick but I know he will be there with me when my kids graduate college and high school.  When my kids get married he will be there watching and making sure all goes well.
