Rodney Dale Zordel, 62, of Olathe, Kansas passed away surrounded by his loving family on Thursday, February 22, 2024. He will forever be remembered as a devoted husband, loving Father, grandfather, son, brother, uncle and friend to everyone he knew.
Rodney was born on January 18, 1962 in Wakeeney, Kansas to Dwayne Howard and Mary Jane (Braun) Zordel. He attended and graduated from Olathe, High School. He met the love of his life Lynne Ann Conway and they were married on October 13, 2000. Rodney enjoyed spending time with his family and nothing gave him more pleasure in life than the time he spent with his grandchildren, nieces and nephews. He also enjoyed working in the garden, watching television and playing video games. He was especially fond of his tropical fish. He will be sadly missed.
His father Dwayne Howard Zordel and his older brother Randall D. Zordel precede Rodney in death. He is survived by his loving wife of twenty years Lynne A. Zordel and daughter Kayleigh Edington of the home, mother Mary Jane (Braun) Platt and two brothers, Roger D. Zordel and Ronald D. Zordel all residing in Olathe, Kansas. Rodney is also survived by his step children Beth Berry and her husband Leron of Olathe, Kansas, Stephanie Sisay of Olathe, Kansas, Nikitta Moore of Omaha, Nebraska, Kati Edington of Olathe, Kansas and Christopher Edington and his wife Jennifer of Olathe, Kansas. Left behind to cherish his memory are his sixteen grandchildren Blaise, Blake, Brylen, Shayla, Jackson, Jaida, Romelo, Princeton, Chevy, Maelea, Karter, Mason, Xaria, Levi, Brielle,Brinley and one great granddaughter Zaliyah.
Rodney will be cremated according to his wishes. A “Celebration of Life” is scheduled for Wednesday, March 6, 2024 from 3:00 p.m. – 5:00 p.m. at Cedar Lake Village (Capital Room) 15325 South Lone Elm Road Olathe, Kansas 66061. A private family inurnment will be in Olathe Memorial Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions “In Loving Memory of Rodney Zordel” can be made to: Olathe Health Hospice 15310 South Marion Street Olathe, Kansas 66061.
