Samuel Alan Elliott, of Olathe Kansas, went home to be with Jesus on December 24, 2015. He was comforted in his last days by the care of his loving wife of 58 years Bobbye, sons Steve and Kyle, and eldest grandson Mike. He passed at Hospice of Olathe Medical Center in the company and tender care of Bobbye and Steve. He is cherished by his eight grandchildren and lovingly called GRANDAD!!
Sam was born May 9, 1936 to Hubert Lee and Louvisa Elliott in Aline Oklahoma. Sam was one of seven children and was predeceased by his father Hubert Lee Elliott, mother Louvisa Elliott, siblings and spouses of Norma Jean Wharton, Billie Lavene Rogers, Robert Mack Elliott, Joe Lee Elliott, Jessie Marie Woods, and beloved middle-son Keith Alan Elliott. He is survived by his wife Bobbye Jean Elliott, son Steven Kent Elliott and wife Patricia Mary Elliott, son Kyle Lynn Elliott and wife Gabrielle Corsini Elliott, brother Hubert Neil Elliott and wife Kay Renee Elliott, grandchildren Michael David Elliott, Cameron Jacob Elliott, Kylee Joy Elliott, Matthew James Elliott, Mark Samuel Elliott, Nicholas Giovanni Landreth, Adeline LaRynn Elliott, and Autumn Lucille Elliott, Sam & Bobbye’s second mother Mrs. Elda Faught (mother of Sam and Bobbye’s dear friends Bob and Jereline Blue), and numerous loving nieces and nephews, along with their children, and their children’s children.
Sam met his wife Bobbye (introduced to him by his sister Jessie) at and graduated from Oklahoma State University (“OSU”) with a Bachelors of Science in Mechanical Engineering. He began his engineering carrier at Boeing in Wichita, Kansas, and after 25 years as the Director of Engineering at RMF Steel in Grandview, Missouri, Sam retired to watch his grandkids play sports and tend to his garden, which includes flowers, vegetables, and fruit. He always mentioned his colleagues at RMF with special favor, including John Robertson and John McGill.
While Sam coached all three of their boys in any sport they desired, his loves were for track & field, basketball, and baseball. He received a scholarship to OSU in track & field, and yet the sport he loved to play as he went through the many stages and transitions of life, was tennis. He was a member of the Midtown Racquet Club, and was an avid tennis fan.
Foremost, Sam was a man of faith and conviction. He loved family above all else and led them to follow Jesus, The Christ. He served in the leadership of many churches, and he was a member of Overland Park Baptist Temple for more than two decades; his wife Bobbye is still a member there.
In lieu of flowers, Bobbye and the family suggest donations to Overland Park Baptist Temple (https://givesafesecure.net/organizations/opbt) or Hospice of Olathe Medical Center (https://www.olathehealth.org/Donations#.Vn5CDdKFMeF).

Sam Elliott was kind to everyone he met. His primary characteristic was patience! He did indeed love unconditionally, and all who crossed his path were better because of him. With confidence, we know that dad is with our savior. Based on his lived-out example, his sons are better men, and the world is a better place because he was in it.
