Tim Lynch, 62, Olathe, passed away Friday, August 4, 2017. A visitation will be held on October 14th at 2 pm at the Grace United Methodist Church, 11485 S. Ridgeview Rd., Olathe, KS with a memorial service starting at 3:00 pm.
He was born Nov. 19, 1954 in St. Louis to Ted Lynch and Faye Lynch (Yount). After high-school he joined the U.S. Navy and traveled the world. When he was discharged from the Navy he came back to St. Louis and married Linda Allen on Oct. 22, 1977. Tim had two successful careers. After his marriage to Linda, he accepted a job at Marley Cooling Tower Company and they relocated from St. Louis to Olathe, Kansas. Tim was an expert machinist/engineer with Marley for over 20 years, where he was also well-known and liked for his skill on the softball field and the ping pong tournaments. After leaving Marley, he found fulfillment as a technical illustrator, where he was able to merge his mechanical expertise with his creativity and artistic talent.
Tim loved his children Eric and Tina very much. When they were little he loved playing with them. As they got older he enjoyed attending many baseball, basketball, soccer games, and dance/baton recitals, parades etc. He was always supportive of their decisions and encouraged them to take risks and go after what they wanted in life. He was so proud when they pursued their dreams.
Tim’s artistic flair showed itself in anything he was involved in, particularly around the holidays. He took great pride in decorating his Christmas tree and each ornament was placed "just so". During Halloween his grandchildren enjoyed jack-o-lanterns carved in any design they chose, no matter how elaborate. He also enjoyed photography, painting and drawing. He especially enjoyed working with his granddaughter, Kira, on her art projects. Equally enjoyable was the time he spent with his grandson, Corbin, playing video games and having movie marathons. Tim and his grandson, Owen, loved to play, read and pretend together.
Tim loved telling jokes and his sense of humor was a source of enjoyment for his entire family, young and old.
He’s survived by his wife, Linda Lynch; son and daughter-in-law, Eric and Sarah Lynch, Shawnee KS; daughter, Tina Lynch, Anchorage, AK; grandchildren, Corbin Lynch, Kira Lynch, Owen Lynch; brothers and sisters-in-law, Trevor and Wanda Lynch, Herculaneum, MO; Jack and Kathy Lynch, Herculaneum, MO; sister Linda Keenan-Finsley, Marble Falls, TX; step-sister and brother-in-law Tammy and Robert Mills; nieces (Malissa, Jessica, Angie, Jackie, Jennifer, Trisha, Brittany, Courtney, and Cassidy); nephews (Mike, Steve, Adam, Jay, Tom, and Chase); and many cousins. He was preceded in death by: his parents and sister and brother-in-law, Sherry & Robert Lagore.
