It is with great sadness that the family of Trena Valiere Mckinney Wilson must announce her passing. "Celebration of Life" Tuesday, July 8, 2025 at the McGilley and Frye Funeral Home 105 East Loula Street Olathe, Kansas. Trena will be commemorated at the First Presbyterian Church of Lawrence Memorial Garden in Lawerence, Kansas.
Trena was a long-time Kansas born in 1937 to Denzil Edward McKinney and Letha Valiere Pratt McKinney. She was the oldest of three children. Trena is preceded in death by her parents, her brother Lyle, and her husband Kenneth Wilson. She leaves behind her brother Robert McKinney, her sons Keith and Thomas Wilson, her daughter Sheila Mulki and many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
Trena graduated from Lewis High School in May 1955. She then went to Southwestern College In Winfield, Kansas. Next, she graduated from IBM Business School in Kansas City and worked as a data entry operator in the Kansas City area. Trena and Ken opened a hobby shop in Shawnee, Kansas in 1968 where she helped operate the store and later their KRD Products Manufacturing.
After Ken’s passing in September 1995, Trena moved to Ottawa, Kansas where she graduated from Neosho Community College and attended Ottawa University. She later moved to Lawrence for several years, and finally Baldwin City, Kansas in 2017. She lived in Vintage Park of Baldwin and served as the president of the Residence Council there.
Trena enjoyed singing in the church choirs and attending grandchildren’s sporting school and sporting events. She was an avid quilter and made several beautiful quilts. Her other hobbies included embroidery hoop art, needlepoint, reading, word puzzles and Bingo.
